Overview

Mid-Maine Technical Center is a public Career and Technical Education school in Waterville offering high-school students hands-on career preparation in skilled trades, healthcare, technology, public safety and other occupational areas.

Its current lineup includes Automotive Technology, Construction Technology, Electrical Technology, Precision Machining, Information Technology, Culinary Arts, Pre-Nursing, Emergency Services, Early Childhood Education, Media Design and several additional pathways.

MMTC also operates a CTE Academy for 10th-grade students who are considering entering one of its technical programs during their junior or senior year. This introductory pathway can include OSHA 10 and CPR/First Aid certification.

Electrical Technology

Electrical is one of MMTC’s strongest traditional-trade pathways.

The program is divided into Electrical I and Electrical II and is designed to give students knowledge and educational hours that can count toward Maine electrician licensing requirements. Students completing both years can receive credit for the 576 hours of classroom coursework associated with the Maine journeyman pathway.

Credentials and opportunities include:

• Maine Student Electrician’s Helper License
• OSHA 10
• 576 hours of journeyman-related coursework after two-year completion
• Dual enrollment in Residential House Wiring through Kennebec Valley Community College for qualifying students

Completion does not by itself grant a journeyman electrician license; required field experience and other Maine licensing requirements still apply.

Construction Technology

Construction students can choose coursework emphasizing Residential Construction or Finish Carpentry. Training covers residential building, framing, finish work, joinery and installation skills. Students may earn OSHA 10 and Woodwork Career Alliance credentials.

Healthcare Training

The Pre-Nursing pathway prepares students toward Maine Certified Nursing Assistant credentials. Training includes anatomy, medical terminology, lab work and supervised patient-contact clinical hours. Available credentials include CNA, CPR/First Aid, ServSafe, Mandatory Reporting and Stop the Bleed.

Tuition & Financial Aid

MMTC is a public secondary CTE institution rather than a private tuition-based trade school. Eligible students attend through participating school districts, so traditional college tuition and FAFSA financing are generally not part of regular enrollment.

Individual programs may still require uniforms, equipment, certifications or other supplies.
