Driving Academy’s Salt Lake City campus provides Class A, Class B and Class B Passenger CDL training. Students combine classroom education with simulator practice and practical commercial-driving instruction in an attached two-acre training yard.
The location is situated within Salt Lake City’s transportation and logistics area, providing students with access to practical road-driving environments as they prepare for commercial-driving careers.
Class A training prepares students to operate combination commercial vehicles, including tractor-trailers.
Class B training prepares students for qualifying heavy single-unit commercial vehicles such as box trucks and delivery trucks.
Class B Passenger training prepares students to operate qualifying commercial passenger vehicles carrying 16 or more passengers, including certain school, city and tour buses. Appropriate endorsements are required.
The comprehensive program provides 100+ hours of classroom and practical training, including permit preparation, yard instruction, road training and vehicle use.
Full Courses combine classroom learning with extensive behind-the-wheel instruction for students beginning the CDL licensing process.
Students who already hold their CDL permit can skip permit-focused classroom training and concentrate on vehicle inspection, essential driving skills, parking maneuvers and road driving.
Students can train using either manual or automatic-transmission trucks.

Depending on CDL class and endorsements, graduates may pursue careers as tractor-trailer drivers, local or regional truck drivers, delivery drivers, commercial vehicle operators and passenger/bus drivers.
Students generally need a valid driver’s license, Social Security number and the ability to pass a DOT physical. Drivers typically must be at least 18, while interstate commercial driving generally requires drivers to be 21 or older.
