Driving Academy’s Akron campus provides commercial driver’s license training for students preparing for Class A, Class B and Class B Passenger CDLs. The school combines classroom education with hands-on practice, simulator training and on-road driving.
Comprehensive training includes more than 100 hours of instruction. The Akron facility also has an attached 2.5-acre training yard, allowing students to practice inspections, vehicle control, parking maneuvers and other skills required for the CDL skills test.
Class A training prepares students to operate combination commercial vehicles, including tractor-trailers. Students receive permit preparation followed by yard and road training.
Class B training is intended for students pursuing careers operating vehicles such as straight trucks, box trucks and certain delivery or vocational vehicles.
The Class B+P option prepares students for passenger-carrying commercial vehicles such as buses, subject to applicable endorsement requirements. Driving Academy
Driving Academy offers several training levels.
Guaranteed/Unlimited Training includes 100+ hours of instruction, permit preparation, yard and road training, vehicle use and multiple road-test attempts under the school’s current program terms.
Full Courses combine classroom instruction with behind-the-wheel preparation for students starting the CDL process.
Half Courses are designed for students who already have their commercial learner’s permit and primarily need hands-on preparation for the skills test.
Students can train using automatic or manual-transmission trucks. Taking the skills test in an automatic vehicle may result in an automatic-transmission restriction on the CDL.
Driving Academy does not publish a single tuition price on the Akron campus page because costs depend on the training package selected.
The school currently advertises payment plans beginning with $500 down. Students should request a written total covering tuition, testing, vehicle rental and any additional fees before enrolling.
