Overview

Waldo County Technical Center in Belfast offers one of the stronger traditional trade-school lineups among Maine’s public CTE centers. Current programs include Automotive Technology, Diesel Technology, Electrical Trades, Welding Technology, Carpentry, Auto Collision Repair and Small Engine Repair, alongside healthcare, culinary, aquaculture and creative programs.

Electrical Trades

Electrical Trades is a two-year NCCER-accredited program designed for juniors and seniors. Students combine classroom theory with hands-on shop work.

Students completing the two-year sequence can accumulate 576 classroom hours toward Maine’s journeyman electrician pathway. First-year students can also earn the Maine Electrical Helper’s License.

Additional credentials can include:

• NCCER Core and Electrical Level 1
• Ladder and fall-protection certifications
• Lockout/tagout training
• CPR certification

Successful two-year students may also earn three or more college credits through the Maine Community College System.

Welding Technology

Welding is offered as a one- or two-year pathway. First-year students focus on skills toward the AWS structural welding test, while second-year students progress to all-position welding.

Automotive Technology

The program is ASE Education Foundation accredited in Maintenance and Light Repair. Students can work toward Entry-Level ASE credentials and potentially earn up to eight concurrent-enrollment credits through Eastern Maine Community College.

Tuition & Financial Aid

Waldo County Technical Center is a public CTE institution, so eligible high-school students do not pay private career-school tuition.
